Neil Helm

Chief Executive Officer and Director

B.Sc (Hons) Monash University

Neil joined OzForex in June 2007 from Macquarie Bank where he was an Executive Director with Macquarie Banking and Financial Services in the private wealth business. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with Accenture, Bankers Trust Australia and Macquarie Bank before taking on the role as Chief Executive Officer of OzForex. Neil holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services and is an Accredited Dealer with AFMA.

During his career, Neil spent significant time working in the USA, Hong Kong, UK, Singapore and New Zealand. This international experience and the senior positions he has held in Australia and overseas, has given Neil a solid understanding of global financial markets and strong skills in people management, strategic development, financial analysis, budgeting, planning and change management.

 

Matt Gilmour

Founder and Non-Executive Director

B.Ec Sydney, M.Bus UTS

Matt has over 20 years experience in foreign exchange in Australia and overseas, holding senior positions with Westpac, Bankers Trust and UBS before founding OzForex in 1998. Matt held the position of Managing Director of OzForex until 2010 when he became a non-executive Director.

Matt has been recognised with a number of awards as a leading entrepreneur in the financial markets sector. He continues to be involved in the company focusing on strategy development and as an active member of the Board.

 

Gary Lord

Director

B.Com UNSW

Gary was appointed to the OzForex board in May 2005 and worked full time as a Joint Managing Director until January 2010. During those five years, Gary held a variety of responsibilities including managing the Corporate and Private Client sales, Overseas offices and their expansion as well as Banking relationships.

Gary brings more than 20 years financial markets experience to the role, having worked with leading institutional group Bankers Trust Australia Limited in Sydney and Singapore. Gary joined Bankers Trust Australia as a Money Market dealer and by 1998 he was appointed Managing Director, Head of Asian Foreign Exchange.

Gary left BT in July 1999 to pursue other interests, while continuing to manage a portfolio of personal investments. He has AFMA Accredited Dealer Status (1996) and was an AFMA Board Member from 1989-1995 (Bankers Trust Australia representative).

 

Eric Schimpf

Director

Head of Macquarie Private Wealth

Eric Schimpf was appointed as Head of Macquarie Private Wealth in March 2010, which has 425 advisers providing tailored investment advice services to clients throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand, covering all levels of financial advice and private banking. 

Prior to this, Eric spent 16 years with Merrill Lynch in the United States, where he was Regional Managing Director, Private Banking & Investment Group (PBIG). Within this role Eric was responsible for Merrill Lynch's operations in the south-eastern part of the United States and for the ultra-high net worth client activity in the region. 

During his time with Merrill Lynch, Eric also spent time working as a top-producing financial adviser, an office manager and a regional manager leading a full service stockbroking business.

Having held positions across the full spectrum of client segments, Eric has gained a deep understanding of the importance of quality advice and how to build a culture based on the highest levels of client service.

Eric graduated in 1990 from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Prior to becoming a Financial Adviser in 1994, Eric spent four years as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. He is a current member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (The Grammys). Eric relocated to Sydney, Australia with his family from Atlanta Georgia.

 

Ryan Sweeney

Director

B.B.A. University of Notre Dame, M.B.A. Harvard Business School

Ryan leads growth investments in Software/SaaS, Consumer Internet, Financial Technology, and Payments companies for Accel. He was part of the team that led Accel’s investment in Groupon, a global marketplace linking consumers with local merchants. Ryan is also active with the boards of 99designs, the leading marketplace for crowdsourced graphic design; Atlassian, the leader in software tools for streamlining product development; Braintree, a leading software platform powering online and mobile commerce; Gameforge, a developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs); OzForex, an online foreign exchange payments platform; and Squarespace, a premier web publishing platform. 

Prior to joining Accel, Ryan spent nearly a decade in the Boston-area at Summit Partners leading growth investments, recapitalisations and debt financings totalling over $750 million. He started his career as an investment banker at William Blair & Company in Chicago, where he was actively involved in M&A and equity financings for high growth, middle-market companies. Ryan also spent time in business development at The Mentor Network, a leading behavioural healthcare company headquartered in Massachusetts. 

Ryan received a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, graduating magna cum laude in Economics and Finance, and remains actively involved with the University as an alumnus. He also received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Ryan resides in the Bay Area with his wife and two sons, yet maintains a strong allegiance to the four major professional sports teams in Philadelphia (as will both of his boys).

Tom Wickwire

Director

B.B.A. Accounting, M.S. Finance Loyola College

Thomas S. Wickwire is a Managing Director of the Carlyle Investment Grade Opportunity group. He is based in Charlotte GA, USA.  Prior to joining the Carlyle Investment Grade Opportunity group in early 2010, Tom was an advisor to the Carlyle Financial Services group.

Previously, he was with Wachovia Securities, ultimately as Global Head of Structured Products Group, responsible for integrating real estate, mortgages and all securitization including banking, capital markets, syndicate, sales, trading and research.

Prior to that, Tom was the Chief Investment Officer of CGA Investment Management, and was also with UBS in London and New York, and Kidder Peabody in London.  He received a B.B.A. in accounting and an M.S. in finance from Loyola College.
